In today’s world, it’s impossible to be part of a resource management, protection or education organization and not attend meetings that address controversial issues. Poorly run meetings are not a wise use of our limited time. Do you want to be able to manage a meeting in a way that reduces conflict, enhances cooperation and achieves its objectives all in a timely manner?
If you do, the NOAA Coastal Services Center Navigating in Rough Seas: Public Issues and Conflict Management is the course for you! In memory of Rich Novak, Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program is pleased to offer this course with Florida Sea Grant College Program. Rich was the Florida Sea Grant Extension Agent in Charlotte County until his death last year. In December 2003, in support of CHNEP NOAA Coastal Services Center help their Project Design and Evaluation Course. With overwhelmingly positive evaluations, those in attendance decided to ask NOAA CSC to come back again to offer their Navigating in Rough Seas: Public Issues and Conflict Management Course.
This two-and-a-half-day course is designed to increase coastal resource education, management and extension professionals’ ability to design, conduct and control meetings in public forums on topics that may potentially be controversial and in such a manner as to ensure a cooperative and participatory outcome.
After attending the course, participants will be able to:
